Cem Canpolat, 34, heard the diner's wife screaming for help in Tas Restaurant, near Waterloo, on Saturday night and ran over to help the customer, who was turning red in the face.
Gripping him from behind and applying strong pressure to the abdomen, Mr Canpolat dislodged the customer's dinner - lamb meatballs and vegetables - as his wife cried in panic.
