Up to 6,000 people have been evacuated from Whaley Bridge amid fears that Toddbrook Reservoir could collapse.
Pictures show the area looking like a "ghost town" after residents fled their homes as rescue workers faced a race against time to save the rain-savaged dam.
Engineers at the scene are "very concerned" the structure may not hold up after part of the reservoir wall collapsed yesterday (Thurs).
