It was a close call Sunday for some patrons at a Renton cafe.
Firefighters said a driver lost control and plowed into Common Ground Coffee and Cupcakes, narrowly missing customers inside. They also said the driver took out a fire hydrant as he drove onto the sidewalk and then right into the business, leaving a huge hole behind.
Surveillance video from inside the shop showed someone dangerously close to the front of the car that careened into the cafe about 2 p.m. The force shifted tables and chairs inside as the owners rushed to the front of the store.
