THIS IS SPARTA! Greek Residences Of Chios Beat The Snot Out Of Riot Cops In Their Hotels Who Are There To Protect Construction Of MORE Refugee Camps

Riots have broken out on the Greek islands of Lesvos and Chios, where residents tried to prevent the arrival of 200 riot police and excavating machines which will be used to build new migrant detention camps.



In Lesvos, protesters have blocked the two roads leading to the planned construction site in Karava Mantamadou, preventing workers and machinery to reach the location. They have also set fire to bins and used municipal rubbish trucks to block the area around the port.



Earlier in the day, hundreds of residents gathered at the port of Mytilene to prevent 10 riot police (MAT) from disembarking, who had arrived by ferry from Athens to protect the construction site. This led to a two-hour clash and riot officers using stun grenades and tear gas.



The situation was also volatile in Chios, where more protests are being planned after residents clashed with police at the port in the early hours of Tuesday when they tried to prevent riot platoons from reaching the island. During the ordeal, police used tear gas and flash grenades which resulted in the hospitalization of three people for breathing difficulties, including the local priest.
