Baby Delivered During Car Crash Gets Lost, Cops Find It

Lilburn police found a baby that disappeared after her mother gave birth to her during a car crash early on Monday morning (video below).

Crystan Graham went into labor in the wee hours of April 13 and was headed to the hospital to have her baby when her mother, who was driving, hydroplaned

The Chevy Tahoe crossed Lawrenceville Highway and crashed into the gate of the BAPS Hindu Temple.

By the time the car stopped moving, Graham had delivered her baby, WAGA reported.

But the baby was nowhere to be found.

Lilburn Police Officer Danny Bride came upon the scene moments after the crash and Officer Cepeda Huff arrived a moment later.

Bodycam video captured the remarkable exchange that occurred.

“Where was the baby at?” Officer Bride asked Graham and her mother.

“We don’t know!” Krystal Jones, the baby’s grandmother, responded. “I was just trying to get to the hospital.”

“Where was the baby at?” Officer Bride asked again, confused.

“In her womb!” Jones yelled, sounding panicked. “She was giving birth!”

Officers Bride and Huff searched all around the area on the assumption that the baby must have been thrown from the vehicle, but they couldn’t find the newborn anywhere

“We thought the baby might have gone out the window because there was so much debris in the back,” Officer Bride said. “Our concern was whether the baby got tossed into the backseat or got tossed through the window.”

“With the Georgia red clay and a newborn baby, I was thinking it was blending in with the mud,” Officer Huff told WAGA.

Bodycam video showed Officer Bride looked again in the SUV and thought he saw something poking out from under the back seat.

So he asked Officer Huff to check again and the other officer found her.

“There is like a small little drop-off under the seat,” Officer Huff told WAGA. "And that’s where the baby laid right into a little pocket. And that’s where I found her.”

Video showed he carefully removed the tiny newborn from under the back seat and kept the umbilical cord from catching on anything as he rushed her to a waiting ambulance.

Then the officers told the terrified mother and grandmother the good news.
