GRAMBLING (AP) — One person was wounded in a shooting at a Louisiana university but neither the shooter nor victim was a student or employee, a spokeswoman for Grambling State University said Friday.
The victim of Thursday night’s shooting was recovering in a hospital from an injury that is not life-threatening, according to a university news release sent Friday.
Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputies and city and state police were helping the 18 campus officers ramp up security after the shooting, which occurred about 10 p.m. between Pinchback and Douglass Halls, university spokeswoman Tisha Arnold said.
She said measures included checkpoints to let only students and employees on campus. They also include a 10 p.m. curfew, university President Rick Gallot said.
Arnold said she does not know the shooter’s identity, but investigators have confirmed that it was not a student, staffer or faculty member.
