WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A man was carjacked at gunpoint in D.C. on Sunday and police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspects.
The incident occurred in the Unit block of Kennedy Street Northeast at around 3:40 in the afternoon.
On YouTube, you can find a number of recordings of Warkaw Anagaw, 38, an activist for residents of Ethiopia’s Amhara state.
Last Sunday afternoon, he was parked in the unit block of Kennedy St NE broadcasting live on Facebook when he saw armed men at both the driver and front passenger windows ordering him out of this car. He said they took his wallet and then his car. The Facebook live video shows an alleged carjacker jump into Anagaw’s driver’s seat, start the car and drive west on Kennedy Street.
DC Police have released a frame of that video asking for the public’s help in finding that alleged carjacker as well as others Anagaw says were accomplices.
Anagaw said police found his car Tuesday and he had it towed near his home in NE. He said the carjackers had taken his keys and his tags.
Anyone who can identify the suspect, or has knowledge of the incident should call police at 202-727-9099 or text your tip to the TEXT TIP LINE at by texting 50411.
