

BALTIMORE — A Maryland Transit Administration police officer was assaulted in West Baltimore Friday afternoon, officials said.
According to officials, the MTA police officer was assaulted at the Upton Metro Station. The officer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There is no word on what led to the assault as MTA police continue their investigation.
City Council President Brandon Scott tweeted the following: "BPD made me aware of an assault on a @mtamaryland Police Officer this afternoon that resulted in him being knocked unconscious. The person who did this is a coward and must be brought to justice."
