From the Driver:
This Lyft rider was kicked out for being very rude. He refused to leave the vehicle and made up the excuse that the doors were locked, to try and claim that I was kidnapping him in the event that police got involved. This is why cameras are essential for every rideshare driver.
Edit: for those who have small phones and couldn't read my descriptions, I apologize. If you turn the volume up at 0.30-0.34 you can hear the rider call me a "Puto" and "B****" while walking behind the vehicle before getting in. At the time, I wasn't 100% sure that's what he said and wanted to remain professional and not make the accusation. As soon as the guy opened his mouth though, I knew that is what I heard and I let him have it.
Also, I was sitting directly outside the restaurant door where the rider could clearly see me. I knew uber maps has its issues, so the first thing I did was confirm with the rider whether he was at the restaurant or the hotel, since on the map they are connected. He told me the restaurant and tried to act like a bro over text, telling me to please wait for him. This "suck-up" attitude gave me a bad vibe that only other Lyft and uber drivers would understand. When you do this for long enough, you can sense trouble before it happens. Normally I would take my cancellation fee and run, but if people are communicative I usually give them the benefit of the doubt. I should have just listened to my instincts on this one.
What also set me off is how much of a pathological liar this passenger was, even over text before he got in the car. First, he asked me to wait, and once the app alerted him that "your driver is leaving, and you are getting charged", he started the cat and mouse game with me, and told me that he couldn't see where I was. I mean, we just talked about him being at the restaurant earlier and I was born at night but not last night.
Anyways, thanks for watching and subscribing. I've been a small business owner for almost 6 years and it's been a lot of work with taxes lately, but I promise more content like this soon and I will move my camera to a better spot next time. I also wanted to say that most passengers are really good, but every other day you'll come across a weirdo who is looking for trouble.
Also to address what I said about the mask, if you've listened to what has been said by doctors and researchers about the level of protection masks provide from covid, you'll quickly learn that wearing a mask does not protect you from the spread of covid 19 because what matters is the droplets spread by the those carrying the virus. Why should I care about protecting this scum bag? Also, do you really think I was going to articulate that to him properly in the heat of the moment? You can clearly see from the video that this guy doesn't have the brain capacity to see any reason.
In my eyes, it's always a sign of disrespect when someone comes in my car without a mask. Even if I may not care, they have no right to make the assumption and should at least ask because they do not know me. It's not fair to the many elderly drivers who do this job every day to make a living and need to stay healthy to take care of their families. No matter what your view is on masks, you should at least show respect to others who are scared for their health.
