A woman is facing charges, including arson, after a house fire in Pickering.
Durham police were called to the home on Secord Street, near Altona Road and Twyn Rivers Drive, around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
They say she repeatedly drove a car into the garage door of the home.
Even after the door broke, she continued to drive into the home until the car caught fire and the whole house went up in flames.
She fled, but was found nearby and apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
No one in the home was hurt.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and the Ontario Fire Marshal was at the scene to investigate.
A 37-year-old Pickering woman is now charged with arson – damage to property; dangerous operation of a conveyance; mischief/damage property over $5000 and mischief to property endangering life.
