A man who allegedly went on the run from police after testing positive to Covid-19 will spend a month behind bars before he next faces court.
An alleged Covid-19 fugitive accused of evading authorities after he tested positive to the disease will remain behind bars until his next court hearing.
Anthony Karam, 27, appeared on Friday in Bankstown Local Court.
He did not enter pleas to any of his charges and made no application for bail.
His matter was adjourned and he will appear in court again on September 23.
He has been charged with 13 offences including multiple alleged breaches of the Public Health Order.
Mr Karam, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, was taken into custody on Thursday in Sydney’s west.
He was told by health authorities he had contracted Covid-19 on August 14 and was ordered to self-isolate.
But police alleged he failed to do so and provided officials with a fake address.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest after numerous attempts to find him.
He was also subject to an order under the Public Health Act.
A police spokeswoman earlier described him as “public health enemy number one”.
