DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. (CBS4) — CBS4 obtained body cam video of a 12-year-old who led Doña Ana County sheriff's deputies on a pursuit and crashed in September.
Deputies received several calls of a reckless driver around.
The 12-year-old was driving a blue-grey small SUV.
"The SUV was driven by a juvenile who was running people off the road driving recklessly," said Doña Ana County Sheriff Sergent Dason Allen.
Allen said the juvenile stopped in a parking lot, picked up three other younger boys.
“We had attempted to Bolo for the vehicle for approximately I would say 30 minutes and one of our deputies made contact with the vehicle on Doña Ana road, caught up to the vehicle on Armstrong and El Camino Real where engaged his lights to initiate the traffic stop and then the vehicle continued to flee northbound on El Camino Real," Allen said.
The chase continued through the northern part of Las Cruces until the vehicle got into Thorpe and I-25, proceeded southbound on I-25 to Highway 70.
The vehicle exited off the exit, it made a left hand turn to go eastbound on 70, continued east on 70, got off on the Del Rey exit, went all the way down to Bataan Memorial East and Del Rey and made a right over to north rise and then into the parking lot of Peter Piper Pizza.
The vehicle stopped and the three boys exited the vehicle and the driver continued back through the motel parking lot then across the K-Mart parking lot.
Officers found and got in contact with the three boys that had gotten out of the vehicle.
The 12-year-old boy was not injured.
