ANKARA, May 26 - Turkish police on Thursday shot a suicide bomb suspect in front of the police department of Gaziantep city in southern Turkey, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported.
The person stated "there is a bomb on me" and he would "explode himself," showing his vest and a remoter, the agency reported.
He "attempted to attack" and was "neutralized" with wounds, the Governor of Gaziantep Province Davut Gul tweeted.
The suspect had many criminal records, the governor added.
The road where the incident happened was cordoned off to avoid the possibility of suicide bombing, the local Demiroren News Agency reported.
In 2016, the Gaziantep Provincial Security Directorate was attacked by the Islamic State (IS) group with a bomb-laden vehicle, and three police officers were killed. Enditem
