A nine-year-old girl was stabbed to death as she played with her little sister in a street near their home in Boston.
Two people were arrested by Lincolnshire Police in connection with the death of the girl, named by police as Lilia Valutyte, within a few hours of her being killed.
The child died from a suspected stab wound in Fountain Lane at around 6.20pm on Thursday, sparking a major hunt for her killer.
One resident reported seeing a young child's doll pushchair lying in the road next to paramedic equipment being used in a vain attempt to save Lilia’s life.
It is understood that one lead being pursued by police is a report of a man seen running away from the scene of the attack, with officers examining CCTV.
Lilia was last seen playing with her younger sister in the cobbled street where the attack took place.
