Dominican Republic-The former president of the National Drug Directorate, Vice Admiral Felix Alburquerque Compres He turned himself in on Friday to the Attorney General’s Office, after an arrest warrant was issued against him for the death of entertainer Manuel Duncan.
The information was confirmed to Diario Libre by the prosecutor of the National District, Rosalba Ramos, who also indicated that there was an arrest warrant against Alburquerque Comprés, after having been identified as the person who shot dead the ex-animator of the Lions of the Chosen, then of an alleged discussion in a fast food store in the capital.
Alburquerque Comprés, former head of the DNCD, was replaced in August 2020 by the current president of that organization, José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa.
Felix Alburquerque Compres assumed the presidency of the DNCD in 2019, after the resignation of Major General José Eugenio Matos de la Cruz.
He was born in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Monte Plata, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Naval Sciences from the Naval School, with the rank of Navy Frigate Ensign.
He rose to the rank of vice admiral. He was a representative of the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic before the United Nations Organization UN.
He was Vice Minister of Defense for Naval and Coastal Affairs, also Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, (1st Deputy Commander General ARD.), General Director of Military Security Puerto Multimodal Caucedo, among other positions.
In April 2021, the Attorney General’s Office mentioned Comprés as part of the officials linked to Adán Cáceres Silvestre, imprisoned for the corruption network dismantled through Operation Coral.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, he received a deposit at the Banco de Reservas, for which the Peasant Association received a payment of RD$525,000 from the (DNCD).
