SEATTLE — Police are investigating a shooting in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood that left 50-year-old Nigel Moss in critical condition on Friday. Moss had been hired as a security guard for Janus Apartments only a few days earlier.
Just before 6 p.m., multiple witnesses called 911 to report that Moss had been shot on duty in the 100 block of Northwest 85th Street.
Witnesses told officers that Moss was attempting to stop a man who had thrown a rock at a window of a nearby bank when he was shot.
Video footage provided to KIRO 7 shows the two men in a verbal altercation before the suspect pulled out a gun.
The man shot Moss four times at close range, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Upon arriving at the scene, police began first aid on the victim before transferring care to Seattle Fire Department medics, who transported him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. As of Monday, Moss remains in serious condition in the ICU.
“He’s a guy that gives 150 percent to all the jobs that he does. He loves doing security. Loves protecting people,” says Adrian Kallimanis, with Titans Security Services. He has known Moss for 15 years and hired him last year to help work security for his company. He tells KIRO 7 that Moss is a father of three who deserves justice.
Officers searched the area for a potential suspect, but Seattle Police say no arrests have been made. Officers are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the SPD tip line at 206-233-5000.
