A 12-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint as he rode in the elevator of his Bronx building in a heist caught on video, police said Saturday.
The victim stepped onto the elevator in his Melrose apartment building near the corner of Park Ave and E. 158th St. with three friends around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 when two masked teens entered after him.
One of the teens was riding a push scooter, surveillance video of the mugging recovered from police shows.
The two teens demand the boy’s property before they begin pushing him around, the video shows. A moment later, one of the thieves flashes a silver knife and threatens the boy until he gives up a credit card.
The victim managed to run away from his muggers before the thieves leave the elevator, the video shows.
The boy was not harmed, cops said.
Cops scouring the building recovered surveillance footage that shows the thieves without their masks on. Cops released the images Saturday in the hopes someone recognizes them.
The muggers are described as between 13 and 16, cops said. At the time of the robbery one was wearing a blue and gray hoodie sweater, black jeans and white and black sneakers. His accomplice was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, gray and black sneakers and a black balaclava mask covering his head.
