Tragedy struck the town of Sirica in Jeremoabo, a city located in the north of Brazil when a bar owner was brutally stabbed to death on Saturday (the 25th) while collecting payment for a beer debt. The victim was identified as 55-year-old Maria Neuza do Nascimento, who was well-known and respected within the local community. Her death has sent shockwaves throughout the town and beyond.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after Maria Neuza asked a customer to pay his debt of five reais for two beers that he had consumed. The customer reportedly gave her 20 reais, and she had intended to use the excess amount to deduct from his outstanding debt. Another customer at the bar then asked her to continue selling without payment, to which Maria Neuza responded that payment would only be accepted the following day.
It was at this point that the situation escalated. The customer who had owed the debt then demanded change for the beer, despite still owing the money. Maria Neuza refused, leading to a heated exchange between the two. The customer then pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the stomach.
The entire incident was recorded by a customer who was present at the scene.
