Dramatic surveillance camera footage captured the moment a train plowed into a school bus, killing two children, in the southern Brazil state of Paraná on Thursday morning.
The bus was transporting 25 students and three teachers with the Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled when the train crashed into it at an intersection in southern city of Jandaia so Sul.
Five students and one teacher were also injured, according to the Jandaia do Sul Fire Department.
Two girls, aged 11 and 15, were declared dead on the scene.
The father of the 15-year-old was on his way to work when he became aware of the accident.
'I ran there and then saw that it was my daughter's bus,' he said.
The footage showed a car on the opposite side of the track coming to a full stop at the intersection as the train approached the area. The bus then could be seen passing over the track when the train smashed into it.
The impact of the crash ejected at least four people out of the bus and left them lying near the side of the tracks.
At least one of the victims could be seen standing up and taking a few steps before falling to the ground and moving in pain.
'We didn't have much to do. Another six victims, including a teacher, were taken in serious condition to hospitals in the region,' fire department chief Wallacy de Souza told RPC television.
