WASHINGTON (TND) — Children in Washington state will soon not need their parent's permission to switch genders.
Gov. Jay Inslee is expected to sign a new bill into law that allows kids who run away from home to seek gender-affirming care with no legal obligation for state-licensed shelters or hosting homes to contact their parents.
Sinclair's Seattle station KOMO reports that under current state law, licensed shelters must notify parents if a child comes into their care, unless a compelling reason exits not to, such as putting youth at risk of abuse or neglect
"Instead of getting to the root cause and partnering with parents to get them real treatment, the state is stepping in and medically kidnapping kids from their parents. They’re promoting family separation is what it is," said Landon Starbuck, the founder, and president of Freedom Forever.
