A man was brutally attacked by at least two individuals at a sideshow in West Oakland on Sunday as a large group of people looked on, many videoing the beating on their cell phones.
Oakland police said they are investigating the incident, videos of which were posted on social media showing the bleeding man apparently unconscious on the sidewalk after the beating — with no one coming to his aid. At one point as he lay there, someone put a bucket over his head.
Video shows that before the attack, the man attempted to use a bucket to hit a car doing stunts in the intersection of 34th and Adeline streets.
The vehicle then stopped and various men chased the victim before punching and kicking him. He is seen flat on his back on the ground, bleeding from the face as he is kicked in the stomach.
Oakland police confirmed Monday night that they are “aware of the incident and are looking into the matter,” according to a police spokesperson. No other information on the incident was shared.
The current condition of the victim is unknown.
