JONES COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A passenger has died after a high-speed pursuit that ended in a crash in Jones County Wednesday morning.
Aaron Earl Rattler, 27, of Garland, Texas, was pronounced dead at the hospital following the crash on Hwy 277 in Jones County around 7:00 a.m.
Rattler was the passenger in a vehicle that crashed when driver Jacobe Jabar Johnson, 22, was trying to evade law enforcement at a high rate of speed.
The Texas Department of Public Safety states a trooper attempted to pull Johnson’s vehicle over near mile marker 273 on I-20, but instead of stopping, he evaded at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Johnson eventually led authorities onto Hwy 277 in Jones County, where he caused a crash by hitting two vehicles while trying to get around some spike strips.
Both drivers of the vehicles struck by Johnson were hospitalized and their current conditions are unknown.
