ALBION, Mich. — An Albion public safety officer and Calhoun County deputy rescued a 2-year-old child from her own mother Saturday morning, with seconds to spare.
Body camera video given to News Channel 3 through a Freedom of Information Act request showed police pull up to a home on Bluestem Court around 10:30 a.m.
Children can be heard on video screaming for help. The two responders enter the home and hear commotion behind a closed door.
The officer kicks in the door and finds a 35-year-old mother holding her daughter underwater in a bathtub.
Police pull the unconscious little girl from the tub and find a stab wound to the chest and neck.
The officer and deputy are heard offering comforting words to the 2-year-old while giving her CPR.
The little girl, wearing only a light pink tutu, begins to cry and reaches her hand out to the deputy.
Kipp said they believed the mother and child as well as a 4-year-old had ingested some sort of cleaning fluid. He said the 4-year-old had cuts on him.
The two injured kids and the mother were taken to the hospital.
