Following this incident, thousands gathered in Ma'an to participate in his funeral, and the suspect involved was arrested and put under investigation by the Public Security Directorate (PSD). The PSD released a statement mourning the loss of Fanatseh and strongly urged citizens to end the practice of celebratory gunfire, labeling it a "deadly habit"
