An undercover NYPD sergeant has been charged with manslaughter after throwing a cooler at a man on a motorbike who was fleeing a drug bust.
Only in NYC.
Sergeant Erik Duran, who was working undercover on the Bronx Narcotics Division, hit 30 year old Eric Duprey with a water cooler who was attempting to flee the scene.
Duprey had reportedly sold drugs to the undercover cop.
When Duprey tried fleeing, Duran hit him with a cooler which sent him flying into a parked car.
"The cop then took my cooler, which was filled with soda cans, water bottles, and hit him," said a man whose cooler was used.
Duprey was pronounced dead at the scene.
NYPD officers are standing up for Duran and were spotted outside of the Bronx courtroom on Tuesday where he was arraigned. Bail was set at $150,000.
