MERIDEN — Dash camera video shows off-duty city police officer Allen Ganter punching an Enfield man in the face seconds after the two got into a verbal dispute during a road rage incident in December.
The assault resulted in Ganter's arrest and his permanent removal as a Meriden school resource officer, city officials said. He was also disciplined with a five-day unpaid suspension based on the findings of an internal affairs investigation, which concluded that he violated department policy by behaving in an unbecoming fashion and by getting arrested, the IA report said.
Ganter immediately expressed his embarrassment to Meriden Police Chief Rob Rosado after the incident and told Lt. Darrin McKay, who conducted the internal affairs investigation, that he was in the wrong, the IA report said.
