A young Filipino, 19 years old, miraculously saved his life after undergoing surgery for more than seven hours, after suffering a strange accident in Bantiles, Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City, on March 16.
In a scene reminiscent of the movie “Final Destination,” the victim was walking along the national highway when a truck suddenly deviated from its course, crashing into a barricade containing construction materials. The impact caused several deformed reinforcement bars to detach, causing three of them to pierce the victim's body.
The young man was identified as John Eric Lucagbo, while the driver of the truck was identified as Bonifacio Romulo Putoy Jr., 57 years old.
Emergency units responding to the accident managed to successfully remove the victim from the steel bars and quickly took him to a medical center, where doctors performed an emergency operation.
It was reported that the victim is now in stable condition after an almost seven-hour operation. He will now be under observation for 48 hours.
