On Monday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m. in Kaštel Štafilić, the Split police, under the guidance of Rena Laura, Deputy County State's Attorney in Split, initiated an investigation following an alarming incident that occurred two hours prior. According to reports from Slobodna Dalmacija, the incident involved two individuals sustaining injuries, one from gunshots and the other from blows to the head with an axe.
The ongoing investigation seeks to unravel the circumstances surrounding the altercation and ascertain whether it stemmed from a parking dispute, as initial unofficial information suggests. The individual in custody, believed to be the perpetrator, is reportedly a 58-year-old former sailor with a history of legal troubles dating back 21 years.
During a previous encounter with the law, the individual was implicated in a case involving attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons. The incident occurred when he allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old boy in the back and stomach, purportedly in response to the young man urinating on the walls of his residence.
At the time of his apprehension, law enforcement officers discovered an M-48 rifle in his possession, along with cartridges for a handheld launcher and a trombone mine. Following interrogation by an investigating judge, the individual reportedly confessed to the crime and was subsequently released.
