This is the terrifying moment a teenager disarmed a security guard and shot him at a bank in Brazil on Thursday.
Surveillance camera footage showed the 16-year-old boy walking with his mother when he suddenly pulled Samuel da Silva's weapon out of his holster Banco do Brasil in Bauru, São Paulo.
The teen, whose name is being withheld because he is a minor, aimed the gun at the 47-year-old Banco do Brasil guard and shot him in the neck.
Da Silva can be seen collapsing to the ground while the mother confronts the teenager, who places the gun on the floor.
The boy then hid behind his mother as two guards aimed their guns at him.
One of the guards fired a shot but missed striking the teen.
The boy was arrested on the scene and taken to the local Bauru Civil Police station, where he was questioned and was unable to explain why he attacked the guard.
São Paulo Military Police first lieutenant Luiz de Souza said that investigators continue to look into what would have motivated the teen and revealed that the boy reportedly suffers from a mental illness.
