Decorated U.S. Air Force senior airman shot to death by the police after they allegedly barged into the wrong house.
23-year-old Roger Fortson died in a Florida hospital after getting shot 6 times.
Fortson was on a FaceTime when he got a knock at the door. When Fortson went to the door and asked who was there, no one responded.
There was another aggressive knock on the door according to the woman on the other side of the FaceTime call.
Fortson then looked through the peep hole and didn't see anyone.
Out of caution, he retrieved his legally owned firearm.
After he returned to the living room, police knocked down the front door and shot him 6 times out of "self-defense."
Police were reportedly responding to a "disturbance" and knocked on the wrong door. The woman on the other side of the call said Fortson had not disturbed anyone.
"He just came back from deployment from fighting for us. With everything we got going on in our country, he's fighting for us and he came back to be murdered, slain like that so violently," his mother said.
"He was my gift, and they took my gift away. And they didn't give it to me. God gave me that gift... and they took my gift away."
