A woman from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh allegedly tortured her husband by tying him up and burning his body parts with a cigarette. The husband filed a complaint and the Seohara district police arrested the accused on May 5.
The woman, identified as Mehar Jahan, drugged her husband, tied his hands and legs and then burned his body parts with a cigarette, alleged victim Manan Zaidi.
The police were also provided with CCTV footage showing Mehar Jahan physically torturing him and trying to strangle him by sitting on his chest.
The recording also shows the woman burning parts of her husband’s body with a cigarette.
“Based on the complaint, the police registered a report against the accused under relevant headings and arrested her. Further action is being taken,” said Superintendent of Police Dharampal Singh India today.
According to Zaidi, he had also previously filed a complaint with the police in which he accused his wife of torturing him by drugging and subjecting him to ill-treatment.
A case was registered against the accused woman under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which included attempt to murder, assault and torture. She has now been detained.
According to The Times are now Reports suggest that the couple got married almost a year ago. After the wedding, she allegedly forced him to leave the family and live separately from her.
