President Donald Trump suggested that foreign “criminals” were behind a possible terror attack that killed at least 10 people celebrating New Year’s Eve in New Orleans.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true,” President Trump wrote in a post on social media.
He added: “Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department.”
The suspect’s citizenship has not yet been confirmed.
It comes as Fox News reported that the suspect’s vehicle traveled through Eagle Pass, Texas, two days ago — a city on the Mexican border.
NBC also reported that police are investigating a “black cloth” or flag with possible markings that was found tied to a pole attached to the pick-up. ABC also said police were investigating whether the attacker had possible links to Islamic State.
