Pilot FORGED AT LEAST HIS MOST RECENT CHECK RIDE, both the logbook entry and the certificate itself
The passenger was a paying passenger on an exhibition flight that he had received as a birthday gift.
The pilot performed low-level maneuvers at up to 80 degrees of bank at altitudes below 200ft
The clearance between the wires he hit and the water at the impact site was only 62ft.
He initially tried to continue the flight back to the origin airport 50 miles away until a loss of power was observed. He pitched the aircraft 30 degrees nose up and slowed at least slow enough to activate the shaker, if not full-on stall, at an altitude of less than 500ft and an airspeed under 50 kts.
Landed gear up in a field 75 seconds post-impact.
Both pilot and passenger survived with minor injuries.
