A 17-year-old Florida teen is facing a serious felony charge after authorities say a reckless prank crossed into violent criminal behavior, leaving another teenager badly burned.
Bradey Ming, 17, has been charged with felony aggravated battery after deputies say he intentionally set his friend on fire during an incident that left the victim hospitalized with severe burns. According to investigators, Ming poured gasoline onto an open fire and created a trail leading toward the victim before dousing him with fuel.
Authorities say the flames quickly engulfed the teen, causing second degree burns to his hand and leg. Deputies also reported the victim suffered a deep full thickness burn to his lower right leg, lower left leg and left thigh, according to Fox 35.
The injured teen was rushed to the hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly updated.
Ming was taken into custody and is being held without bond. Deputies have not released details about what led up to the incident or whether alcohol or other substances were involved.
The case has drawn sharp reactions locally, with many questioning how a situation involving gasoline and fire was allowed to escalate so far. Investigators continue to review the incident as the aggravated battery charge moves forward through the court system.
