Let's Just Say The Russians Suck At High Rise Demolition
28 days ago
Shocking footage has captured the moment a massive section of a former indoor ski resort collapsed during demolition, sending concrete and debris crashing onto parked cars below in Krasnogorsk.
The incident occurred during the demolition of the towering Snezhkom complex, a once popular high rise indoor snow and skiing center located just outside Moscow.
Video circulating online shows a huge slab of the building’s exterior tearing loose and plummeting to the ground, narrowly missing nearby structures before slamming into a parking area. According to Russian officials, more than 50 vehicles were damaged in the collapse, with several people reportedly injured.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene as dust clouds filled the air and stunned onlookers scrambled to safety. The exact number and severity of injuries has not yet been officially confirmed.
Authorities have launched an investigation into whether the demolition contractor followed proper safety procedures. Officials are now examining compliance with regulations governing controlled demolitions, particularly in densely populated areas.
The Snezhkom complex had been shuttered since 2021 after failing multiple safety inspections. Once marketed as a year round indoor skiing destination, the facility fell into disrepair before demolition efforts began.
Local officials said the collapse was not part of the planned demolition sequence, raising questions about structural stability and oversight.
