Daughter Of The Hockey Game Shooter Says Her Father Was Mentally Ill, Report Claims Was Dressed In Women's Clothing And Killed Other Family Members At The Game

A woman identifying herself as the daughter of the man who opened fire at a Rhode Island hockey arena described her father as “very sick,” as authorities investigate what police say appears to be a targeted family attack.
According to local reporting, the suspected shooter was a father who allegedly killed members of his own family during the incident. The woman, speaking publicly after the shooting, said her father suffered from serious mental health problems.
“He has mental health issues,” she said, adding that he was “very sick.”
A report from NBC 10 added further details, citing a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation. Reporter Dan Jaehnig stated that the suspect may have been dressed in women’s clothing at the time of the shooting and that he deliberately targeted family members who were attending the hockey game.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized that the attack does not appear to be random.
“It appears that this was a targeted event, that it may be a family dispute,” said Tina Goncalves, the local police chief overseeing the response.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, citing the need to notify and support relatives before making details public.
“We cannot release the names of the victims because obviously, we want to speak to the family, make sure the family is well aware of what happened before we release that information publicly,” Goncalves said.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to piece together the suspect’s movements, motive, and mental state leading up to the deadly shooting. Officials have not confirmed additional details beyond those already released, stressing that information may evolve as the case develops.
