A routine pickup turned into a scene of terror when a drunk driver smashed into the front of a preschool in Freehold Township, striking a mother and her children in a horrifying crash that left a young boy injured and a family shaken.
Police say 68-year-old Angela Arrigo was behind the wheel when the vehicle plowed toward the building as parents were collecting their children. Arrigo was reportedly at the school to pick up a child when the crash unfolded. She was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Witnesses described chaotic moments as the car lurched forward. The back of the vehicle was seen hitting a mother, later identified as Patrice Pisani, while the wheel struck the leg of her younger son. The impact sent shockwaves through the entrance of the preschool as bystanders rushed to help.
Pisani’s youngest child was taken for medical treatment with a leg injury and burns believed to have been caused by contact with the undercarriage of the car. The mother herself suffered injuries to her back and neck, adding to the distress of an already devastating afternoon.
Emergency crews responded quickly, securing the area and providing aid as parents looked on in disbelief. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash while the community grapples with the frightening reminder of how quickly a routine school pickup can turn into a nightmare.
