If you think harvesting honey is all cute jars and cozy beekeepers, this viral clip out of Indonesia is about to completely reset your expectations.
A video showing how wild honey is collected in Indonesia has been blowing minds online, and for good reason. There are no protective suits, no ladders, and absolutely no room for error.
In the footage, a man climbs a massive tree that stretches nearly 60 meters into the air. That is roughly the height of a 20 story building. Just watching him scale the trunk is enough to make your palms sweat, but that is only the beginning.
Once he reaches the top, things somehow get even more intense. The honey is guarded by a swarm of aggressive wild bees, and instead of retreating, he calmly fights them off while balancing high above the ground. With one wrong move, the fall alone would be catastrophic.
Using simple tools and steady hands, he carefully cuts the honeycombs from the tree, making sure they do not slip and crash to the ground below. Every motion is slow and deliberate, because dropping the honey would mean losing hours of dangerous work.
