A viral video circulating online has ignited debate after pairing a classic hip-hop track with live gunfire, creating a sild mash-up that many viewers are stoked to hear a new, amped-up version of the track.
The clip syncs Overnight Celebrity, the 2004 hit by Twista, with footage filmed at a shooting range, timing each burst of AR-15 gunfire to the song’s rapid-fire hi-hat rhythm. The effect visually amplifies the beat, making the music appear to “fire” in real time as shots ring out on screen.
Produced by Kanye West and released on Twista’s album Kamikaze, the track has long been joked about online for its machine-gun-like percussion. Internet memes for years have compared the song’s frantic tempo to automatic weapon fire, but this latest edit takes the comparison to a literal extreme.
