Pure Nightmare Fuel As A Delta Airlines Engine Bursts Into Flames On Takeoff From Brazil As Passengers Scream
74 days ago
Terrifying scenes unfolded in the skies over São Paulo after a packed passenger jet was forced to abort its journey and make an emergency landing when flames and sparks suddenly burst from one of its engines.
The drama began late Sunday as a Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta attempted to depart from Guarulhos International Airport with 272 passengers and 14 crew members on board.
But moments after takeoff, disaster appeared to strike.
Shocking video shared widely on social media shows bright sparks shooting from beneath the aircraft’s wing just as the wheels lift off the runway, with flashes of fire trailing from the engine in a scene that left passengers fearing the worst.
According to the airline, the aircraft, an Airbus A330-300, suffered a mechanical problem involving its left engine during the critical moments of ascent.
Inside the cabin, panic reportedly spread quickly as passengers became aware something was seriously wrong.
The pilots made the swift decision to turn the plane around, bringing it back to the airport for an emergency landing.
Despite the frightening visuals, the aircraft landed safely and was immediately met by emergency crews on the ground.
In a statement, Delta confirmed the incident, describing it as a “mechanical issue” and adding that rescue and firefighting teams were on standby when the plane touched down.
Passengers were then evacuated and transported back to the terminal by bus, bringing a nerve-shredding ordeal to a safe conclusion.
No injuries have been reported, but the dramatic footage has since sparked concern online, with many questioning how such a dangerous-looking failure could occur during takeoff, one of the most critical phases of flight.
