Dramatic footage has captured the moment a religious reenactment took a dangerous turn after a man portraying the crucifixion of Jesus fell from a towering wooden cross in front of a stunned crowd.
The 28-second clip, filmed in Nigeria, shows a group of onlookers gathered around a makeshift structure as they attempt to raise a large wooden cross using ropes and long poles.
At the center of the display is a shirtless participant, dressed in a simple waist cloth, gripping the crossbeam as he is lifted into position, recreating the iconic biblical scene.
Spectators, many dressed in bright and colorful clothing, can be seen holding the base steady as the cross is slowly elevated near a corrugated-roof building and dangerously close to overhead power lines.
But as the structure rises higher, signs of instability quickly become apparent.
The cross begins to tilt, prompting visible concern among those gathered below, before suddenly giving way.
In a split second, the man loses his grip and falls to the ground, sending the crowd scrambling in panic as the reenactment turns into an alarming spectacle.
Gasps can be heard as people rush toward the fallen participant, though his condition following the fall is not immediately clear.
