Only at a college football spring game could someone jump out of a perfectly good plane, glide toward a wide-open stadium, and still find a way to hit the one thing you absolutely cannot hit.
That’s exactly what went down at Lane Stadium before kickoff of Virginia Tech Spring Football Game 2026, when a parachuter made an entrance that instantly turned into a “how did that even happen?” moment.
The plan was simple, drop in, land on the field, get a nice little pregame hype moment, crowd cheers, everyone claps, we move on.
Instead, the guy comes in hot and slams straight into the scoreboard like it’s a magnet.
Out of all the open space in a football stadium, acres of grass, wide sidelines, end zones, literally anywhere else, he manages to collide with the giant structure hanging over the field. It’s the kind of accuracy you don’t want.
The video is exactly what you think, crowd buzzing, everything normal, and then suddenly, boom, midair disaster that makes everyone collectively go “oh no” at the same time.
To their credit, the response was quick. According to Virginia Tech spokesperson Mark Owczarsk, the parachuter was rescued within about 15 minutes, which is honestly impressive considering he ended up in the worst possible landing spot short of the parking lot.
Officials later said the skydiver was stable, with Virginia Tech Hokies putting out a statement thanking first responders, event staff, and medical teams for handling the situation fast and professionally.
