A masked robber has left police and the internet equally stunned after carrying out a hotel hold-up with unexpected courtesy, politely thanking the clerk before walking out with cash.
Surveillance footage released by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office shows the unusual encounter unfold at a Red Roof Inn in Columbus, Ohio on April 14.
The video begins with the suspect entering the lobby and greeting the employee with a casual, “How ya doin’?” before announcing the robbery.
“Fill up the bag,” he tells the clerk, who calmly begins handing over money from the register.
In a moment that has since gone viral, the employee even offers to include coins, only for the robber to decline politely.
“No, I’m good, thanks,” he replies.
The exchange ends on an equally surreal note, with the suspect thanking the clerk as he leaves, and the employee responding, “Alright, have a nice night.”
Authorities say the man implied he had a weapon during the incident, though none was visibly displayed in the footage.
Despite the calm demeanor on both sides of the counter, the incident is being treated as a serious robbery, and investigators are now asking the public for help in identifying the suspect.
No arrests have been made so far.
