A newly surfaced video has captured the haunting moments before a gunman opened fire at one of Mexico’s most iconic tourist landmarks, killing a Canadian woman and injuring more than a dozen others.

The attack unfolded on April 20 at the ancient Teotihuacán complex, near Mexico City, a UNESCO World Heritage site that draws millions of visitors each year.

The footage, filmed using a 360-degree tourist camera, shows a man moving through the crowded area near the Pyramid of the Moon. He is seen wearing a mask and carrying a backpack, blending in among visitors as he walks casually through the site.

Nothing in his demeanor appears urgent or alarming.

Seconds later, the situation turns deadly.

Authorities say the suspect pulled out a handgun and began firing at random into the crowd, triggering panic as tourists scrambled for cover among the ancient ruins.

A 32-year-old Canadian woman was killed in the attack, while 13 others sustained injuries in what officials have described as a random act of violence.

The gunman later turned the weapon on himself, ending his life at the scene.

The shocking incident has raised serious concerns about safety at major tourist destinations across Mexico, particularly at historic and archaeological sites that typically have a more relaxed security presence.

In response, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum called for increased security measures at high-traffic cultural landmarks, warning that incidents like this could have wider implications for the country’s vital tourism industry.
