This is the astonishing moment a man appeared to intentionally place himself beneath a collapsing gas station canopy before dramatically pretending to be injured, apparently unaware that the entire stunt was being captured on security cameras.
The bizarre incident, filmed at a Montego gas station on April 30, has exploded online after viewers accused the man of attempting one of the most obvious insurance scams ever caught on video.
Surveillance footage shows the canopy beginning to collapse near the fuel pumps as debris crashes toward the ground.
But instead of running for safety, the man in a white t-shirt appears to do the exact opposite.
In footage that left social media users stunned, he can be seen moving directly toward the falling structure before seemingly positioning his leg underneath the debris as it crashes down.
Seconds later, he crawls beneath part of the wreckage and suddenly begins acting injured while lying in full view of the security camera.
The clip rapidly went viral largely because the footage appears to show the man having ample time to avoid the collapse entirely.
Instead, many viewers said his movements looked strangely calculated, with some pointing specifically to the way he allegedly extends his leg toward the debris moments before impact.
Others mocked the dramatic “injured victim” performance that followed, noting the man seemed to remember he was hurt only after crawling into the perfect position for the cameras.
