There are few things funnier than two completely different internet cultures colliding at full speed. Enter British Prime Minister Keir Starmer proudly standing up in Parliament and declaring, with maximum confidence, “Mr. Speaker, I am a gooner.”
The man had absolutely no idea what he was unleashing.
Now, to be fair, in England, this is completely normal. Arsenal fans have called themselves “Gooners” forever because the club nickname is “The Gunners.” Totally harmless football slang. Middle-aged dads in London pubs have been saying it for decades without a second thought.
Unfortunately for Starmer, terminally online American internet culture has taken the word “gooner” in a VERY different direction recently.
So the second this clip hit X, every American under the age of 35 heard the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom basically stand up in front of Parliament and proudly announce, “Hello everyone, I am addicted to masturbating.”
