Former UFC lightweight legend Dustin Poirier was cuffed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after a profanity-laced rant that had him challenging a police officer to throw down.

Bodycam footage released Tuesday shows the 37-year-old retired fighter, who was kicked off a Delta flight for being intoxicated, going off on airport staff and then turning his aggression toward responding cops on Father’s Day, June 21.

The officer, arriving at Delta Gate D36 around 4:50 p.m., found Poirier visibly agitated and already in a heated dispute with airline workers after being denied boarding on Flight 1295 to Fort Lauderdale.

From the moment the bodycam rolls, Poirier is heated, cursing and arguing.

When the officer asks if he’s Dustin Poirier, the fighter snaps back with an expletive.

Things escalate fast. Poirier takes an aggressive stance and blurts out threats, including “I’ll fight you right now.”The cop, recognizing the cauliflower-eared UFC veteran, stays calm, keeps his distance, and radios for backup instead of escalating.

Poirier eventually backs down, drops his backpack, and allows officers to cuff him without further incident.

Once restrained, his tone shifted dramatically. “Pound it. You did a great job. You did what you could,” he told the officer.

Poirier was booked into Clayton County Jail on a misdemeanor public intoxication charge. He bonded out hours later.

In a statement posted to Instagram after the footage dropped, Poirier owned the incident.“Love you all. I’m working on myself,” he wrote.
In a follow-up Instagram Story, he got more candid: “I’m at the point where I need some help. Walking away from fighting hasn’t been easy on me, and alcohol isn’t the answer. It has ruined my father’s life, and I will not allow it to ruin mine. My family deserve me at 100%. I’m trying to do everything I can to get my mind right and take the right steps.”Poirier, a fan favorite known for his wars with Conor McGregor and a near-miss at the lightweight title, retired from the UFC in 2024 after a storied career.
