Patriotic Train Conductor Fired for Celebrating America on July 4th, Liberal With An 'Abolish ICE' Shirt Got Him Cancelled

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A part-time train conductor was fired on the spot after daring to wish passengers a happy Independence Day and call the United States the greatest country on Earth.

The incident unfolded on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway on July 4, when the conductor got on the intercom and delivered a straightforward, unapologetic message of American pride.

“Welcome to the GREATEST COUNTRY on the face of the planet, and if you disagree, YOU CAN LEAVE! To the very, VERY few Americans in here, Happy Independence Day!”

The video of the moment, which quickly went viral, shows passengers inside the scenic rail car as the announcement plays. One passenger can even be heard telling him to shut up. Instead of brushing it off as harmless holiday cheer, some riders were apparently so triggered that they immediately sent the footage to his employer.

The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) wasted no time. They fired the conductor the same afternoon, making it clear he would never work for them again. Local news reports confirm the agency cited “zero tolerance” for the remarks and even issued an apology to passengers who “felt its sting.”But here’s where this story takes an even more revealing turn.

In the local news footage that accompanied reports of the firing, one of the individuals who complained about the conductor’s comments is shown being interviewed, and he’s wearing a black t-shirt that proudly reads “Abolish ICE.”

That’s right. The same person who couldn’t handle a little Fourth of July patriotism was sporting the uniform of far-left activism. “Abolish ICE” isn’t some neutral slogan, it’s a radical call to dismantle Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a position pushed by the most extreme elements on the left who want open borders and no enforcement of immigration law.

This wasn’t some random offended tourist. This was a far-left activist who decided a conductor’s love for his country was worth destroying his job over.

The conductor later responded with calm dignity:

“I’m very patriotic. It was the USA’s Independence Day. I was celebrating with my fellow Americans (native or non-native). I truly DO believe we are the greatest country on earth. My statement about if you don’t like the country and don’t believe we are the best, then you can leave is a freedom of the USA that many other countries do not have. It is not a racist or xenophobic thing to say. If you don’t believe in making this country better, then why are you here?”

He nailed it. In America, you’re allowed to love your country loudly. You’re allowed to say that if someone hates it here, they’re free to leave. That’s not hate, that’s the very definition of freedom.

Yet in 2026, even in a red state like Tennessee, cancel culture still found a way to punish basic patriotism. A man lost his job because a handful of hypersensitive passengers, including at least one wearing an “Abolish ICE” shirt, couldn’t stomach hearing that America is great.

This is cancel culture at its worst. It’s not about protecting anyone from harm. It’s about enforcing ideological conformity and punishing anyone who refuses to bow to the idea that expressing pride in the United States is somehow offensive.

Americans are fed up with this nonsense. On the day we celebrate our independence, a conductor simply reminded riders why this country is worth celebrating — and the woke mob came for his head.

The conductor should be reinstated immediately. And the rest of us should take note: if loving America out loud can get you fired on the Fourth of July, then the real threat to this country isn’t patriotism.

It’s the people who are determined to stamp it out.
