In a split-screen video that’s racked up millions of views, the worker, identified as David, stands behind the counter at the Baltimore location with his arms crossed, stone-faced, as the customer presses him for a complimentary meal. “I want a free birthday meal,” she demands.
“F**k your birthday,” David fires back without missing a beat.
The clip, shared Monday by Right Angle News, shows David in a visor and apron looking thoroughly fed up, while interior footage captures the chaotic scene inside the shop. The woman reportedly became abusive after her freebie request was denied, turning what should have been a simple sandwich order into a full-blown confrontation.
Social media erupted in praise for the sandwich slinger, with users flooding the comments calling for Jersey Mike’s to give him a massive raise — and then some.“Employee of the month!!!,” one fan posted alongside a photoshopped image.
Incidents of customers throwing tantrums over freebies have become all too common at fast-food joints, but this one struck a nerve in a city and country exhausted by bad behavior and “gimme” attitudes.
Jersey Mike’s has not yet commented publicly on the viral moment, but at last check, David was still clocked in and serving subs the old-fashioned way: if you want it, you pay for it.
