.In a jaw-dropping showdown straight out of an action movie, an 80-year-old grandfather in Paraguay grabbed his revolver and single-handedly sent five masked gunmen running for their lives.
Celso Maidana was inside his San Isidro home in Presidente Franco early Tuesday when the gang tried to smash their way in, according to dramatic security footage that’s exploding across social media.
The video shows Maidana, calm, determined and moving fast for his age, clutching the handgun as terrified daughters and granddaughters scramble to barricade doors behind him. He fires shots, the family helps shove furniture against entry points, and the would-be robbers, armed with at least one shotgun, bail without stealing a thing.
“Armas SALVAM vidas!” Guns save lives! — posted Brazilian councilwoman Mariana Lescano alongside the clip, which has racked up more than a million views in hours.
Footage captured inside the house shows the silver-haired Maidana in a blue T-shirt, revolver in hand, barking orders and physically blocking a doorway as chaos erupts. Women in the home, some half-dressed after being jolted awake, rush to help pile chairs and tables against the intruders.
Night-vision exterior cameras then show the gang fleeing into the darkness after the intense exchange of gunfire.
No one was injured in the miraculous standoff, authorities said.
Neighbors and online fans are calling Maidana a real-life action hero.“Better to explain it at the police station than get slaughtered like an animal in your own house,” one supporter wrote.
The brazen raid comes as violent home invasions plague parts of South America, where law-abiding citizens often feel forced to take matters into their own hands.
Maidana hasn’t spoken publicly yet, but his revolver did all the talking, proving that age is just a number when your family’s on the line.
